San Francisco del Valle, Ocotepeque.- Autoridades de la Cuenta del Milenio - Honduras junto a alcaldes municipales inaguraron siete Centro Locales de Comercializacion (CLAC) e igual número de Sistemas de Riego en el marco del evento de presentación de resultados del Proyecto Incentivo a la Producción Hortícola financiado por la Cuenta del Milenio - Honduras e implementado por Asociación Hermandad de Honduras en el departamento de Ocotepeque en la zona occidental del país.

San Sebastián, Lempira.- El Presidente del Congreso Nacional de la República, Juan Orlando Hernández y el designado presidencial para la zona de occidente Samuel Reyes, presidieron los actos de inauguración del camino San Sebastián – Tomalá en Lempira, y las demás inversiones de la Cuenta del Milenio – Honduras en el occidente del país.

Developing projects that contribute to the economic growth of the country

Earlier this month, I spent three days getting a firsthand look at MCC’s investments in Honduras. The MCC-funded program there will end in September, so most activities are almost finished. In fact, Honduras will be the first country to complete its five-year MCC compact. I was impressed by what I saw both in terms of the development impact and in terms of how the program has been managed toward a successful conclusion.

Farmers diversify their crop fields

Ojos de Agua, Comayagua.- Cruz Rivera, a beneficiary producer of the Integrated Production System Project (IPS), financed by the Millennium Challenge Account-Honduras, and executed by Project Global Village in the community of Los Dos Ríos, municipality of Ojos de Agua, Comayagua, has diversified his crops by planting half an acre of cucumber in his field.

The Millennium Challenge Account completes construction works in three rural Roads of southern Honduras

Choluteca, Choluteca.- With an investment of more than 14 million lempiras (US$ 741,000.00), and the contribution of the municipalities of Santa Ana de Yusguare and El Triunfo, in the department of Choluteca, and the municipality of Lange in the department of Valle, the Millennium Challenge Account-Honduras has completed the construction of 20.1 kilometers of rural roads in southern Honduras.

Five Hydro-Energetic Irrigation Systems have been inaugurated
Within the context of the Hydro-energetic Horticulture Project funded by MCA-Honduras and implemented by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), Mr. Porfirio Lobo, President of the Republic, and Mr. Jacobo Regalado, Honduras Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, inaugurated five hydro-energetic irrigation systems representing and investment of more than 20.6 million lempiras and bringing benefits for more than 1000 members of the Lenca ethnic group living in the Intibucá and La Paz Departments.

Minister OF Public Works, Transportation and Housing attends Road Construction Works Taking Over
After an inspection to verify works performed in Segment “End of Comayagua Valley-Siguatepeque” of Highway CA-5 North, Mr., Miguel Pastor, Honduras Minister of Public Works, Transportation and Housing (Spanish acronym SOPTRAVI), and Mr. Martín Ochoa, MCA-General Director, signed the works taking over certificate to ASTALDI, the contractor for the construction works.

Generating Opportunities for the Agricultural Sector in Western Honduras
Within the framework of the Project of Competitiveness for Men and Women Horticulture Producers, financed by the Millennium Challenge Account-Honduras and implemented by the PILARH Association, Jonathan Brooks, MCC Country Director in Honduras, recently inaugurated five irrigation systems installed by the organized farmers groups “Fuentes de Erapuca” and “Productores al Desarrollo”, in three municipalities of the Copán and Lempira Departments.

Sign Tripartite Agreement to connect Farms to Markets
Authorities of the Millennium Challenge Account-Honduras, Project Global Village and the Municipality of Ojos de Agua, in the Comayagua Department, signed a tripartite agreement to improve road access to zones of agriculture production, in order to directly benefit horticulture producers participating in the Integrated Production System Project currently financed by the Millennium Challenge Account in that area.

Millennium Challenge Account – Honduras generating economic growth in the Aguan Valley
The President of Honduras, Porfirio Lobo Sosa, and the Ambassador of the United States of America, Hugo Llorens, inaugurated investments in projects for over 267 million lempiras in the Aguan Valley, channelized by the Millennium Challenge Account-Honduras and benefiting approximately 180 thousand local residents.

The Millennium Challenge Account-Honduras Invests 122 Million Dollars in the Comayagua Valley
Ajuterique, Comayagua.- His Excellency, Mr. Hugo Llorens, the United States Ambassador to Honduras, visited three of the Millennium Challenge Account-Honduras Projects currently in progress in the Comayagua Valley. The visit included inspection of projects related to the paving works of the road Comayagua-Ajuterique-La Paz, the improvement of the rural road from Lo de Reina to El Pacón, and the plantations of three beneficiaries of the Farmers Training and Development Activity (MCA-H-FTDA).
