In order to comply with precedent conditions referring to the presentation of a Road Maintenance Plan (RMP) and which are contained in the Compact signed between the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) and the Government of Honduras (GoH), the Ministry of Public Works, Transportation and Housing (SOPTRAVI) contracted a specialized firm to formulate it. During the last months, MCA has periodically monitored the RMP preparation and , as a result of MCC´s Infrastructure Mission, a draft was finally approved on October 5th, 2006. The final proposal was delivered by the Road Fund on October 13th. At the same time, MCA-Honduras coordinated with the President and Secretary of the National Congress, Mr. Roberto Micheletti Bain and Mr. Valentín Suárez, respectively, notes of compromise guaranteeing the budgetary allocations requested for the RMP for 2007 which will be included in the National Budget to be discussed at the end of the present year. This will secure implementation of regular maintenance for the national highway network. |
