MCA- Honduras and Municipalities Working together in the preparation of Resettlement Plans in Highway CA-5 North Tegucigalpa.- As part of the preparation process of resettlement plans for the potential project-affected persons and beneficiaries located along Highway CA-5 North, representatives of MCA-Honduras and ASP-Giraldo Calle & Cia met with local authorities of the municipalities of Comayagua located in segments of the highway to be improved, and which include Comayagua, Villa de San Antonio, Siguatepeque, El Rosario and Taulabé. | |  Visit to the Municipality of Siguatepeque

The delegation was presided by Gustavo Acosta, MCA-Honduras Environmental and Social Impact Director; and included consultants Ricardo Figueroa Fuentes, David Murillo and Javier Zúñiga, all of them to the ASP-Giraldos technical team. In order to facilitate the process to obtain pre-conditions such as establishing cooperation and communication mechanisms between MCA-Honduras and the municipalities, and to facilitate future resettlement processes, the authorities were informed on the scope of the project to upgrade Highway CA-5 North which will be implemented through MCA-Honduras, and on the resettlement plans to be prepared. Information included details on the procedures involved in the surveys, census and property valuation that will be carried out by ASP-Giraldo as part of the initial process to prepare the resettlement plans. The delegation stressed the importance of an active municipal role in the cadastral process and in the, information, promotion, negotiation and implementation of the future resettlement plans, which are addressed to define and execute all future actions dealing with the indemnification as well as the social and economic compensation in favor of the persons to be potentially affected. Among the municipal authorities interviewed were Carlos Miranda of Comayagua; Guillermo Martínez Suazo of Siguatepeque; Fredy Antonio Guillén of El Rosario and Antonio José Corea of the Villa de San Antonio.
