The Millennium Challenge Account-Honduras and Project Global Village.
Generating competitiveness for celaque farmers.

Celaque, Ocotepeque.- Last February 1st. and with MCA-Honduras technical and financial support, Proyecto Aldea Global (PAG) began the project called “Integrated Production System” aimed to improve competitiveness for 300 farmers of the Celaque plateau.

By introducing drip irrigation systems, distribution tanks and water reservoirs, the project is also aiming at a more technical approach regarding production in the area. The Integrated Production System will also standardize the use of seeds, and will contribute to control the farmers´ use of fertilizers and pesticides in the zone.

Celaque farmers will benefit from the implementation of strategies regarding production and efficient distribution, in direct correspondence with the market trends, and in an effort to increase their capability to offer products meeting the standards demanded by the national and international markets.

Celaque farmers will benefit from the Integrated Production System Project, by utilizing  water resources in a sustainable way.

Our vision is to have Celaque horticultural products outperforming the local market and opening doors in the regional market”, said Arnaldo Alvarado, Marketing Coordinator for the area, and one of the specialists of the Integrated Production System project.
