La Fe, Santa Bárbara.- Authorities of different coffee organization of Honduras paid a recent visit to the facilities of the Coffee Hybrids Laboratory Project locate at the Dr. Jesús Aguilar Paz Research and Training Center, and currently financed and implemented by MCA-Honduras and the Honduran Coffee Institute (IHCAFE). The objective of the visit was to learn about the advances obtained by this and other projects being executed at the center in areas dealing with research, training, industrialization, production and diversification. Mr. Yonis Morales, one of the Project Coordinators, guided the visit and gave a presentation on the overview and objectives of the project, and on those of the Millennium Challenge Account as the main funding agency. Although some of the visitors expressed their concern about the amount of the investment they will have to make to purchase the first in vitro produced seedlings, the majority is very optimistic about the feasibility of having this new technology being used by many interested coffee growers in a near future. |
