| | Belen Gualcho, Ocotepeque, May 2008.- With assistance from Global Village and MCA-Honduras and through the Integrated Production System Project, the community of Copantillo in the Municipality of Belen Gualcho, Ocotepeque, has started construction works for a 42,000-gallon storage tank, to be used for the irrigation system of about 10 hectares of farming land dedicated to horticultural crops. This investment will be benefiting approximately 60 Lenca families, providing access to water during the summer, increasing the quantity and quality of their crops and their income.
Approximately 200 residents of the community will be participating in the construction works.
Construction will start by the end of May, and works are expected to be completed in September, 2008. Advancement at this point includes: land leveling, construction materials already delivered to the site and local community organization. | |
