Magueyal residents build a water reservoir

  
         
 

Belén Gualcho, Ocotepeque.-  Endorsed by the Global Village Project (Proyecto Aldea Global in Spanish) and with MCA-Honduras financing, the community of Magueyal in the Municipality of Belen Gualcho, Ocotepeque, is currently building an 80,000 gallon reservoir to store irrigation water. 

This initiative will benefit about 200 Lenca families which now will have access to water during the summer months in order to increase their yield volume, the quality of their crops and their economic income.

The construction activities are being carried out by approximately 150 of the village residents as their in-kind contribution to the project.  Works for the reservoir started last March and completion is scheduled for next June.
