Thanks to these women´s contribution in different phases of the Competitiveness for Men and Women Horticulture Producers Project, it has been possible to generate tangible and valuable achievements regarding the Project’s goals and objectives. Organization and team work have facilitated the development of the Project’s implementation plans. In this regard, it is worth mentioning the women’s many talents, leadership, and capabilities to plan, oversee and promote the working groups, which has facilitated to identify the best leaders in the different beneficiary communities.
“Frieds for Development” is a group of 15 women farmers, some of which are the wives of the Project’s beneficiary farmers; they are being trained in order to generate better opportunities for national agriculture. By working in canned food manufacturing they contribute to the horticulture production carried out by their husbands who participate as the Project’s direct partners.
Further Project monitoring and execution will generate better conditions for the families, allowing to increase their income with women as the greatest contributors. By developing this kind of initiatives, women become the main actors in the communities social and economic integral development.
It is through gender equity that men and women can contribute to the economic growth of their families; and enjoy similar benefits when making use of the resources commonly generated by productive and development oriented activities.
