During his speech, President Lobo Sosa expressed “the Millennium Challenge Account has been a true and tangible support. I would like to congratulate the farmers, the various groups at different levels, and the way everyone has executed this Project, it is a true example of how those who have received the aid from the People and Government of the United States of America, through the Millennium Challenge Account, have responded”.

He also stated that the producers will continue with their projects, and he recognized the aid given “as a government, we will continue to support the producers, we are convinced that the development of Honduras starts by developing farm lands…big opportunities…that is what the Millennium Challenge Account has given the producers”, said the President.

Part of the accomplishments of this project is the “Resettlement Plans”, in which 200 families have been relocated in 19 Millennium Settlements built alongside the CA-5 North Highway.

Opportunities have been created for national agriculture through the Rural Development Project, which has invested US$67.7 million, directly benefiting more than 350 thousand people, and generating positive results with programs such as Farmer Training and Development MCA-H/FTDA, in which approximately six thousand farmers are earning at least 2 thousand dollars per hectare per year.

The event was also attended by Honduran government authorities, congressmen, civil society representatives, and authorities of the Millennium Challenge Account-Honduras and the Millennium Challenge Corporation.
