Comayagua Farmers already have a Global Market

La Libertad, Comayagua.- Officers of the Millennium Challenge Corporation and the Millennium Challenge Account - Honduras, officially opened the Global Market and the agriculture and productive infrastructure executed through the Integrated Production System Project funded by the Millennium Challenge Account – Honduras and implemented by Global Village, with an investment of more than 14.1 million Lempiras, benefitting over 1200 people in four communities of the Department of Comayagua.

The Global Market, valued in more than 944,000 Lempiras, has 32 stands destined to offering basic consumption goods, a variety of fruits, vegetables, dairy products, agricultural goods and other products and services which are offered to the region population and clients from other communities visiting the market.


The Global Market, valued in more than 944,000 Lempiras, will enable the producers to commercialize their products and to move it to local markets.

The Global Market has 32 stands destined to offering basic consumption goods, a variety of fruits, vegetables, dairy products and agricultural goods.

Officers from the Millennium Challenge Corporation, the Millennium Challenge Account beside the municipal Mayors officially opened the Global Market and the investments made in the area.

The joint investment made by the Millennium Challenge Account, the Global Village Project, the Municipality of La Libertad and the Empresa Asociativa Campesina Sembrando Esperanza (EACSE), contributes to the economic development of the municipalities neighboring to the Department of Comayagua and allows the farmers to have a place where they can commercialize their production and to moving it easily to the Comayagua, Tegucigalpa and San Pedro Sula markets.

For the construction of this market the Municipality of La Libertad, gave in concession the usage of the land and the building to the EACSE, whom after the opening event will be its administrator.

The Global Market is located in an area of easy Access for the consumers and with the advantage of the next construction of the only transport terminal in the municipality, which is located just a few yards from the market and will guarantee better profits to the producers selling their products there.

The Integrated Production System is implemented in the communities of Plan del Cerro, Corralitos and Los Dos Ríos, with the purpose of improving competitiveness among the farmers in the area, which are families of very scarce economic resources, living from a stationary agriculture, id est. only during the rainy season, whom now equipped with irrigation systems, storage tanks and global market, will be able to generate economic growth for their families and their communities.
