Environmental mitigation Works carried out at the CA-5 North Highway
Las Mercedes, La Villa de San Antonio.- Construction of curbs and planting of Vetiver are some of the measures that are underway at the stretch Río del Hombre – Beginning of the Comayagua Valley with the purpose of preventing erosion.
These Works are made along the 33.3 kilometers of the Project. Curbs will be reinforced with the purpose of preventing the erosion of the soils along the stretch and facilitate maintenance Works after the enhancing and improvement Works are concluded.
Vetiver planting has the function of preventing the erosion of slopes built with light materials which if not protected may cause damages and may propitiate the soils to be eroded travel to slides flows causing contamination.
In total the Millennium Challenge Account Works in the enhancing and improvement of 57.6 Kilometers that go from Tegucigalpa up to the beginning of the Comayagua Valley, with funds from the co-financing granted by the Central American Bank of Economic Integration, CABEI. It is estimated that these Works will be concluded in 2012.
